Currently, there are no other safe and effective cleaning methods to replace rinsing with water or wiping with alcohol to treat color-changing silicone. All operations should be performed without damaging its microporous structure, and chemical solvents or ultrasonic cleaning should be avoided.
1. Why are only water and alcohol recommended? The core of color-changing silica gel is its porous silica structure and humidity indicator (such as cobalt chloride). Any strong solvent or harsh treatment can cause irreversible damage:

2. Supplementary "Non-Cleaning" Cleaning Methods
While not truly "cleaning," the following methods can reduce the impact of contamination:
(1) Sieving Method (Suitable for powdery or mixed environments)
Use a fine mesh sieve to separate silica gel particles from dust and debris;
This is only for physical contamination and cannot remove chemically adsorbed substances.
(2) Ventilation and Settling Method (for mild odor residue)
Place the silica gel in a dry, ventilated place for 24 hours to allow volatile odors to dissipate naturally;
This is suitable for low-risk environments with brief contact with perfumes, skincare products, etc.
These methods cannot replace cleaning and are only used as pretreatment.
3. Important Reminder: Cleaning ≠ Regeneration
Regeneration: Removing moisture and restoring drying ability by baking at 100–120℃ for 1–2 hours-this is routine maintenance;
Cleaning: Only performed after confirming contamination and must be combined with regeneration to restore usability.
Special Note: Blue silica gel containing cobalt chloride is toxic. Wear gloves when cleaning and keep out of reach of children.
