Color-changing silica gel does not require regular cleaning; it only needs to be cleaned after contamination is confirmed. Under normal use, its drying ability can be restored simply by heating and regenerating it; cleaning is unnecessary.

 

1. Cleaning is Not a Routine Maintenance Step

Regeneration ≠ Cleaning: Color-changing silica gel changing color after absorbing moisture is a normal phenomenon. It can be restored by baking at 100–120℃ for 1–2 hours. This process is "regeneration" and does not involve cleaning.

Slight Contamination (only surface dust or trace oil stains): Can be rinsed with water + high-temperature drying to attempt restoration.

Heavy Contamination (blackened, yellowed, odorous): Do not wash and reuse; replace directly and dispose of safely.

For moisture protection of precision equipment (such as cameras, hearing aids): Even with slight contamination, it is recommended to replace directly to avoid cross-contamination risks.

Practical Tip: Establishing a "contamination equals disposal" principle is safer and more reliable than cleaning.
