It is recommended to replace the desiccant in the junction box every 3-6 months. In humid environments or during the rainy season, this can be shortened to every 2 months. The specific cycle needs to be adjusted based on the type of desiccant and the ambient humidity.

1. Replacement Cycle Reference

Desiccant Type

Regular Replacement Cycle

Recommended in Humid Environments

Judgment Criteria

Color-Changing Silica Gel

3-6 months

2 months (e.g., during the rainy season in Xiaogan)

Color changes from blue to pink/red, indicating it is no longer effective.

Calcium Chloride

1-3 months

Check monthly, replace after absorbing moisture and forming a gel

State changes from granules to liquid/gel

Molecular Sieve

Up to 3 years

Recommended regeneration or replacement every 1-2 years in high humidity environments

Requires baking to regenerate and restore moisture absorption capacity.

Ordinary Silica Gel/Mineral Desiccant

2-4 months

Replace earlier when humidity > 50%RH

For those without color-changing function, a humidity chart or weighing is required for judgment.

Key Point: Color change is the most intuitive replacement signal and should not be relied upon solely based on the time cycle. Once saturated, the desiccant not only becomes ineffective but may also release moisture, exacerbating internal humidity.

2. Special Recommendations for Xiaogan Local Areas: Currently, it is the rainy season, with air humidity frequently exceeding 80% RH and large temperature differences between day and night, making condensation highly likely after equipment shutdown:

Prioritize using silica gel desiccants with color-changing indicators for easy daily inspection;

Using it in conjunction with a PTC heating module can extend the desiccant's lifespan by more than 30%;

It is recommended to replace the desiccant every 2 months and record the replacement time and status;

When replacing, check the filter for blockages to ensure proper ventilation.

If the desiccant is found to be ineffective, replace it immediately and retest the junction box insulation resistance (>100MΩ) to prevent short circuit risks.
