Thermocouples act as the primary safety barrier against this risk by providing real-time, accurate temperature data that prevents uncontrolled heat rise. When a thermocouple is degraded, improperly installed, or slow to respond, the controller receives falsely low temperature readings and continues supplying power to heaters. This creates a dangerous overheating condition that leads to material decomposition, seal failure, and permanent component damage. High-performance thermocouples detect temperature changes instantly, allowing the controller to reduce or cut power before hazardous levels are reached. They also maintain stable measurement even under extreme thermal stress, ensuring safety during startup, material changes, and high-speed production. Mineral-insulated (MI) designs with high-temperature alloy sheaths retain mechanical and electrical stability where standard sensors would fail completely.
