How to Determine if a Hot Runner Sheath Has Been Eroded

Based on the previous focus on temperature drift caused by hot runner sheath erosion and the relevant background of regular inspection and troubleshooting, erosion of the sheath can be accurately determined through three dimensions:

Appearance Characteristics: Dense scouring scratches appear on the sheath surface along the melt flow direction, with localized coating peeling, and in severe cases, the bare metal substrate can be exposed. This is the most obvious characteristic of erosion.

Performance Data: The temperature measurement deviation at this point gradually increases with operating time, the insulation resistance decreases slowly and continuously, and there are no sudden short circuits or open circuits.

Operating Condition Correlation: In processing scenarios involving fiberglass filling and highly corrosive materials, if the sheath exhibits the above-mentioned appearance and performance changes after a period of operation, it can be confirmed that the degradation is caused by erosion.

This method can accurately distinguish between erosion and ordinary mechanical wear, avoiding misdiagnosis of the cause of the fault.
