How to Prevent Re-ingress of Water After Repairing a Damaged Connector

Based on our previous discussion of insulation failure of PTFE wire connectors in humid environments with hot runners and related repair processes, the following measures can prevent water from re-entering the repaired connector:

 

Upgraded Sealing Technology: Employ a double-layer sealing structure with an inner layer of adhesive-coated fluoroplastic heat shrink tubing and an outer layer of thickened fluoroplastic heat shrink tubing. Hot melt adhesive completely fills the joint gaps, blocking the path of moisture intrusion.

 

Physical Protection Reinforcement: Place the repaired connector entirely within a waterproof insulating junction box and inject electronic sealant to completely seal it, forming a second waterproof barrier.

 

Optimized Wiring Path: Move the connector away from low-lying areas with stagnant water and areas prone to condensation dripping, avoiding prolonged direct contact with liquid water.

 

Environmental Auxiliary Moisture Prevention: Place a small amount of high-temperature resistant desiccant in the wiring channel and replace it regularly to reduce the humidity of the local space.

 

Regular Inspection and Verification: Retest the connector insulation resistance quarterly. If abnormal attenuation is detected, investigate potential problems in advance to prevent water ingress after seal failure. These measures can block the entry of moisture at the source, greatly reducing the probability of the joint getting damp and water entering again.
