1. Heating regeneration is the core method for color restoration. The color change of color-changing silica gel originates from the response of its internal cobalt chloride (CoCl₂) or environmentally friendly indicator to humidity. When it loses its moisture absorption, the moisture can be removed by heating to restore the color:

(1) Oven drying method (recommended)

Temperature: 100–120℃

Time: 1–2 hours

Operation:

Remove the plastic packaging (to prevent melting at high temperatures);

Lay it flat on a heat-resistant tray, with a thickness not exceeding 5cm;

Place it in a preheated oven and observe the color change;

After the particles have completely returned to blue (or orange), remove them, allow them to cool naturally, and seal them for storage.

This method is commonly used in laboratories and industrial settings, as it provides uniform heating and stable results. (2) Microwave Heating Method (Emergency Quick Drying)

Power: Medium power (approx. 600W)

Time: Heate for 1–2 minutes each time, stirring after each heating, with a total duration not exceeding 5 minutes.

Container: Use glass or ceramic dishes; heating with packaging is strictly prohibited.

Note: This method may cause localized overheating, leading to particle cracking. It is only recommended for small-scale temporary treatment.

(3) Sun Exposure Method (Auxiliary Method)

Although it cannot completely dehydrate, it can be exposed to sunlight for 8–12 hours on a sunny day as a preliminary treatment.

Suitable for mild moisture absorption; subsequent high-temperature drying is still required for complete restoration.

3. Key Points to Improve Recovery Success Rate

Timely Processing: Regenerate when the discoloration rate reaches 1/3 to avoid deep moisture absorption;

Uniform Heating: Spread in a single layer to avoid stacking which affects heat conduction;

Sealing After Cooling: Allow to cool naturally in an oven with the power off for 30–60 minutes to prevent secondary moisture absorption.

Practical Suggestion: Label the packaging with "Number of Regenerations." Use with caution after accumulating more than 5 regenerations.
