The Two-Wire Programmable RTD Transmitter 5332A is a high-precision, high-reliability temperature signal conversion device specifically designed to convert platinum resistance thermometer (Pt100/Pt1000) resistance signals into standard 4-20mA analog current signals. The innovative two-wire design for power supply and signal transmission is a standout feature of the 5332A. The device operates on a 12-36V DC loop power supply, consuming less than a 3V voltage drop at 4mA signal and no more than 4V at 20mA full scale. This low-power design (typical value 22mW) allows a single power supply to be connected in series with multiple transmitters, significantly simplifying system wiring. Integrated reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection (withstanding up to 60V instantaneous voltage) ensure device safety in case of wiring errors.
Programmability is achieved via an infrared optical interface or HART digital protocol. Users can configure over 20 parameters via a handheld programmer: RTD type (Pt100, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni120, etc.), temperature range (customizable start and end points), output characteristic (linear, square root, piecewise linear), damping time (adjustable 0.1-32 seconds), engineering units (°C, °F, K), etc. Non-volatile memory can store 10 sets of user configurations, supporting one-key switching. Advanced sensor diagnostics can detect RTD open circuit, short circuit, out-of-range, and other faults, outputting a 3.8mA or 22mA alarm signal per NAMUR NE43 standard.
The environmental adaptability design reflects the industrial-grade reliability concept. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, with a die-cast aluminum housing achieving IP67 protection rating. Electromagnetic compatibility complies with IEC 61326-1 standard, with RF field immunity reaching 10V/m (80MHz-1GHz) and surge immunity ±2kV (line to ground). Intrinsically safe explosion-proof versions carry ATEX and IECEx certifications, suitable for Zone 0/1 hazardous areas. Its compact size (approximately 22mm in diameter, 115mm in length) is suitable for space-constrained installation locations.
