The impact of zero-point drift on products is directly related to the degree of drift. Mild drift has minimal impact, while severe drift can directly lead to batch scrapping. Specific effects are as follows:
Slight drift (deviation ≤ 0.1%FS): Only introduces a very small pressure measurement error, with almost no impact on product dimensions or appearance. Generally, it will not result in defective products and only requires periodic calibration.
Moderate drift (deviation 0.1%~0.5%FS): It can cause the injection molding machine to misjudge the melt pressure. For example, if the actual pressure is insufficient but the system displays the pressure as sufficient, it will cause product defects such as insufficient filler and shrinkage; if the actual pressure is sufficient but the system displays the pressure as low, it will cause flash and dimensional errors, significantly reducing the yield rate and requiring frequent process adjustments.
Severe drift (deviation > 0.5%FS): This will cause completely incorrect process output. For example, the actual pressure may far exceed the mold's tolerance range, but the system will display normal pressure. This can lead to minor issues like mold parting line expansion and severe flash on the product, or even mold damage due to bulging, resulting in the scrapping of a batch of products and significant production losses.
Even mild drift, if left unaddressed, will gradually worsen as the sensor ages. It is recommended to calibrate promptly upon detection. For severe drift, replacing the sensor is the safest approach.
