Class 10,000 and Class 1,000 food cleanroom molds produce disposable food containers, bottle caps, yogurt cups and food storage boxes, with strict regulatory limits on metal ion precipitation, volatile organic compounds, fiber shedding and surface contamination. Standard industrial thermocouples contain oil-based mineral filling, unpolished matte sheaths and glass fiber braided cables that contaminate food-grade melts and fail FDA food contact material audits. Food cleanroom dedicated thermocouples adopt full pollution-free design from raw material processing to finished packaging, with five mandatory technical standards unique to food molding production lines.

First, oil-free vacuum calcined magnesium oxide mineral insulation filling standard. Conventional mass-produced thermocouples add mineral oil lubricant during wire drawing and powder compaction to improve production efficiency. Under continuous food mold operating temperatures of 180–280°C, this oil volatilizes into the melt, leaving organic residues that fail food safety migration testing. All food-grade thermocouples eliminate all oil lubricants entirely, using high-purity calcined food-grade magnesium oxide powder compacted under vacuum high pressure. The hot junction welding point adopts fully sealed vacuum encapsulation to block internal filling powder leakage even if the sheath suffers minor scratches, preventing white mineral powder from mixing into transparent food plastic products. No organic volatile substances release from the probe interior under long-term high-temperature operation.

Second, mirror passivated 316L stainless steel sheath anti-precipitation treatment. The sheath is manufactured from medical-food grade 316L stainless steel with ultra-fine secondary electrolytic mirror polishing, removing all surface micro pits, grain boundaries and processing burrs that trap carbon and acidic food melt residues. After polishing, chemical passivation generates a dense inert chromium oxide protective film on the metal surface, completely suppressing trace heavy metal ion precipitation during long-term contact with acidic fruit juice, dairy and beverage melts. Ordinary unpolished 304 steel sheaths accumulate corrosive food residues in surface microgrooves, accelerating pitting corrosion and metal ion leaching that disqualifies finished food containers from safety inspection. For high-temperature PET bottle cap molds operating above 280°C, upgrade to Hastelloy alloy sheaths for enhanced anti-corrosion performance against acidic PET decomposition gas.

Third, non-shedding seamless PTFE cable insulation, glass fiber braids fully prohibited. Glass fiber outer sleeves are banned for all food cleanroom thermocouple cables, as tiny broken fiber fragments fall off during mold disassembly and bending, contaminating cleanroom air and finished food plastic parts. All outgoing signal wires adopt integrally extruded seamless PTFE insulation with smooth dust-repellent surfaces that produce zero debris shedding. The material releases no toxic volatiles below 260°C, matching the full temperature range of food PP, PET and PLA molding. Junction box connectors use solid PPS plastic shells with passivated stainless steel spring shrapnels free of rust powder shedding, and all plug surfaces are smooth and easy to wipe clean of food acid residues after production shifts.

Fourth, low-particle seamless spring bayonet contact structure. Standard springs with open coil gaps accumulate food carbon residues and dust inside the spring winding space. Food-grade customized springs adopt solid integral forming seamless structures with precisely controlled compression stroke, eliminating micro gaps that trap contaminants. The compression fitting between probe and mold mounting hole adds thin PTFE sealing gaskets to block metal wear debris generated from mold steel thermal expansion friction from flowing into the hot runner melt channel and contaminating food-grade plastic. All spring alloy materials undergo heavy metal leaching testing to comply with food contact safety standards.

Fifth, dust-free vacuum packaging and cleanroom storage specifications. Finished food-grade thermocouples undergo multi-stage ultrasonic deionized water cleaning and low-temperature baking to remove all surface oil, dust and residual metal particles before packaging. Packing is completed inside a Class 10,000 clean workshop, with each probe individually vacuum-sealed in dust-free PE bags. Spare thermocouple inventory is stored inside airtight moisture-proof cabinets within the cleanroom, never placed in ordinary general production workshops with oil mist and metal scrap pollution. During mold maintenance, operators must wear lint-free cleanroom gloves to disassemble and install probes, avoiding hand sweat and grease contaminating the polished sheath surface.

Supporting compliance certification documents required from suppliers during procurement: FDA food contact material certification, RoHS heavy metal limit test report and material migration detection data. Strictly implementing the five core food cleanroom thermocouple matching standards eliminates product contamination risks, ensures finished food packaging passes all food safety regulatory audits, and avoids production line shutdown and order loss caused by unqualified sensor components.333
