What is the longevity of locally manufactured thermocouples in hot runner systems

Under normal injection moulding conditions of 200-400℃ in hot runner systems, high-quality domestically produced K-type armoured thermocouples can have a nominal laboratory lifespan of over 10,000 hours, equivalent to 12-18 months of continuous production use. This is less than 20% lower than the lifespan of imported thermocouples with same specs.

Operating domestically produced thermocouples in harsh conditions, such as temperatures above 800℃ and sulfur/reducing atmospheres, accelerates oxidation and deterioration, reducing their actual lifespan to 3-6 months, significantly shorter than the nominal lifespan.

Life-extending operations can significantly increase lifespan: Using slow temperature rise and fall control methods, high-purity alumina insulation tubes, and a double-layer protective tube structure can effectively delay thermocouple deterioration, extending the actual lifespan to more than 24 months under normal operating conditions, fully meeting the requirements for long-term stable hot runner system operation.

Domestically produced, reputable brand-name thermocouples for hot runner systems, provided the model is chosen to suit the operating conditions and the daily operation is in accordance with regulations, can have a lifespan that fully meets the maintenance cycle requirements of Husky hot runner systems.
