It refers to the collective sum of all auxiliary and supporting hardware assemblies beyond core components such as sensors, transmitters, protection tubes, and process connection parts (flanges/threads). This conceptual collection constitutes the essential "completeness elements" required for a temperature measurement point to operate long-term, stably, accurately, and safely. In simple terms, if a temperature measurement point is likened to a living organism-where the sensor is its "sense organ," the transmitter its "nerve," and the protection tube its "armor"-then OTHER accessories are its "connective tissue, capillaries, and immune system." While they do not directly perform the core sensing function, they have a decisive impact on the system's survival quality, environmental adaptability, and lifecycle.

 

Analyzing from a technical scope perspective, OTHER accessories constitute a dynamic collection deeply coupled with specific applications, primarily covering the following five categories:

Mechanical Mounting and Fixing Attachments: Include various mounting brackets (e.g., L-brackets, pipe-clamp brackets, rail mounting plates), adapters and converters (for converting between different standard interfaces, such as G-thread to NPT-thread adapters), anti-vibration and stress-relief components (e.g., spring dampers, flexible connection tubes, expansion joints). Their primary function is to resolve physical dimension, spatial orientation, and mechanical stress mismatches between field equipment interfaces and standardized instruments, ensuring the sensor is securely mounted while isolating vibrations and stresses from pipes or equipment.

Sealing and Protection Attachments: This is the most diverse and demanding part of OTHER accessories. It includes:

Static Seals: O-rings (in various materials like Nitrile NBR, Fluorocarbon FKM, Perfluoroelastomer FFKM), flat gaskets, spiral wound gaskets, metal gaskets.

Dynamic Seals and Cable Transit Seals: Cable glands/sealing connectors (providing cable fixation, strain relief, and IP protection), stuffing boxes, explosion-proof sealing unions.

Environmental Protection Components: Field junction boxes (protecting electrical connection points), protective covers, rain hoods, heat shields/reflective plates.
These collectively build multi-layered protective barriers against threats from media leakage, environmental corrosion (water, dust, chemical atmosphere), mechanical damage, and hazardous areas (explosion-proof).

Thermal Management Attachments: Used to regulate the operating thermal environment of the sensor or transmitter body. Includes

Heat Dissipation Components: Aluminum or copper heat sinks, heat pipe-based radiators, used to cool transmitter electronics in high-temperature environments.

Insulation/Heating Components: Insulation wool, electric heat tracing cables with their temperature controllers, used in low-temperature environments to prevent media solidification or sensor icing, and to reduce measurement errors caused by ambient temperature fluctuations.

Thermal Isolation Components: Ceramic or mica insulating washers, used to block direct heat conduction from hot equipment to the sensor terminals

 

Electrical Connection and Signal Conditioning Attachments: Used to complete and enhance the electrical loop. Includes:

Wiring Aids: Terminal blocks, crimp terminals, wire markers, cable ties.

Signal Protection and Conditioning Components: Signal isolators (for breaking ground loops, improving noise immunity), surge protective devices (SPD), intrinsic safety barriers (for IS loops).

 

Extension and Compensation Components: Thermocouple extension/compensation cables (for extending the cold junction to a stable environment), connection wires for 3/4-wire RTDs.

Calibration, Maintenance, and Identification Attachments: Serve the full lifecycle management of the system. Includes:

Calibration Aids: Calibration jacks, shorting plugs for testing, connection adapters for portable calibration furnaces.

Maintenance Tools: Specialized installation wrenches, torque wrenches, seal installation tools.

Identification Components: Nameplates, labels, color-coding rings, hazardous area identification plates.

 

In terms of system positioning, OTHER accessories are key to bridging the gap from "code-compliant instrumentation" to "field-adapted reliable measurement points." They fill the "last-mile" gap between standard product design and the ever-changing demands of industrial sites. Excellent selection and design of OTHER accessories can significantly improve the overall measurement system's MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and reduce its MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), forming the underlying hardware foundation for predictive maintenance and smart factories. Neglecting OTHER accessories often leads to measurement drift, frequent failures, or even safety incidents, the cost of which far exceeds the value of the accessories themselves.
