Among them, the thermocouple, as a key component for temperature monitoring, plays a decisive role in the overall performance of the hot runner product. A truly reliable hot runner product must have the characteristics of stable temperature control, long service life, convenient maintenance and strong adaptability, and can maintain stable performance in long-term, high-speed and high-load production environments.

A complete hot runner product mainly includes manifold, nozzle, heating element, thermocouple, connector and temperature control accessories. The manifold is responsible for distributing the molten plastic from the injection molding machine to each mold cavity. Its internal flow channel is processed with high precision to ensure balanced flow and no dead angle, avoiding material degradation caused by plastic retention. The manifold is usually made of hot work mold steel with good thermal conductivity and wear resistance, and the heating rod is embedded in the reserved hole. Open nozzle has a simple structure and low cost, suitable for general plastic products; valve gate nozzle controls the opening and closing of the gate through pneumatic or hydraulic devices, which can effectively avoid gate drooling and wire drawing, and is suitable for high-precision products. In both types of nozzles, the thermocouple is embedded in the nozzle tip, which can quickly sense temperature changes and ensure that the gate temperature is always within the ideal range to prevent freezing or scorching.

The thermocouple equipped with high-quality hot runner products usually adopts mineral insulated structure, with a probe diameter of about 1.0mm–1.5mm, which can be installed in a narrow space without affecting the strength of the nozzle. The hot junction is sealed to prevent plastic melt penetration, moisture intrusion and short circuit, and has strong anti-interference ability. The connection between the probe and the cable is reinforced with high-temperature resistant materials, which can withstand long-term thermal expansion and contraction and reduce the risk of wire breakage. At the same time, the thermocouple wire matches the temperature controller to avoid signal distortion caused by model mismatch.

Connectors and cables are also important components of hot runner products. High-quality products use high-temperature resistant, anti-interference dedicated connectors, which can maintain stable electrical connection under vibration and high temperature conditions. The thermocouple extension cable is made of matching alloy material to ensure that the temperature signal is not distorted during transmission. Poor connectors and cables are likely to cause poor contact, temperature drift and system failure, which is a problem that cannot be ignored in product design.

In addition, high-quality hot runner products also pay attention to maintainability. The heating element and thermocouple should be easy to replace, without disassembling the entire mold, which can greatly reduce maintenance time and production loss. Modular design allows independent replacement of a single nozzle or manifold zone, improving equipment utilization. At the same time, products with over-temperature protection, short-circuit protection and thermocouple fault detection functions can effectively avoid damage to the mold and hot runner caused by abnormal temperature.
