The core methods for slowing down the performance degradation of color-changing silicone are controlling the regeneration temperature, timely regeneration, reducing exposure time, and proper sealed storage. Proper operation can significantly extend its effective service life.

1. Strictly control the regeneration temperature (most critical)

Temperature setting: When using an oven or heating equipment, keep it constant at 110℃, avoiding exceeding 120℃;

Avoid open flame baking: Stoves, hair dryers, etc., can easily cause localized overheating, leading to silicone sintering or indicator decomposition;

Use temperature control equipment: Prioritize ovens or dryers with constant temperature functions to ensure uniform heating.

Actual test results: After 5 regenerations at 110℃, the performance remains above 80%; at >120℃, incomplete color recovery occurs after 1-2 regenerations.

2. Timely Regeneration to Avoid Deep Moisture Absorption

Optimal Regeneration Time: Process immediately when the silica gel has changed color by more than 1/3;

Avoid Prolonged Exposure: Check every 1-2 days in high-humidity environments (such as the Wuhan rainy season);

Benefits: Moisture does not penetrate deep into the micropores, making removal easier and reducing structural damage.

Tip: Deep moisture absorption requires a longer baking time, as residual moisture will inhibit subsequent adsorption capacity.

3. Immediate Sealing After Regeneration to Prevent Secondary Moisture Absorption

Cooling Method: Allow to cool naturally in the oven for 30-60 minutes after turning off the power;

Sealing Time: Place in a sealed bag or desiccant within 5 minutes of removal;

Recommended Container: Food storage container with a resealable strip or aluminum foil self-sealing bag, offering good moisture protection and low cost.

4. Reduce the Risk of Physical Friction and Contamination

Store Separately: Avoid storing with hard objects, oil stains, cosmetics, cleaning agents, etc.

Use Dedicated Containers: Use a fixed storage box for the silicone to reduce handling damage.

Avoid Contact with Liquids: Especially oils, solvents, and skin care products, as contamination is difficult to remove.

Special Reminder: Blue silicone containing cobalt chloride is toxic. Wear gloves during handling to prevent accidental contact by children.

5. Record Usage Status and Scientifically Manage Lifespan

Labeling Information: Indicate the "Activation Date" and "Number of Regenerations" on the packaging.

Replacement Point: Replace after more than 5 regenerations or more than 1 year of use, even if it appears normal.

Mixed Use: Mix old and new silicone to improve overall moisture-proof efficiency.

Household Recommendation: When using for moisture protection of cameras, medicines, and electronic devices, replace annually to ensure reliable protection.
