Based on our previous focus on the material selection for wire clips used to secure sensor probes in high-temperature hot runner applications, 304 stainless steel is far more durable than galvanized carbon steel, perfectly suited for the long-term use requirements of hot runners.
Corrosion Resistance: The zinc plating on galvanized carbon steel rusts easily after wear, while 304 stainless steel, with its adequate chromium and nickel content, will not corrode even under prolonged high-temperature and humid conditions.
High-Temperature Resistance: The zinc plating on galvanized carbon steel rapidly deteriorates and peels off in environments above 200°C, while 304 stainless steel can stably withstand temperatures up to 450°C without any degradation in mechanical properties.
Lifespan: Under normal operating conditions, galvanized carbon steel only lasts a few days before becoming brittle and breaking, while 304 stainless steel can be used stably for several years, making it dozens of times more durable than galvanized carbon steel.
In high-temperature scenarios such as hot runner probe securing, 304 stainless steel is the preferred choice to completely avoid the risk of probe loosening due to material failure.
