Thermocouple mounting method directly affects temperature measurement accuracy, response speed, and service life in hot runner systems. Improper installation creates air gaps, vibration damage, and delayed signals, leading to unstable molding. Choosing the right mounting structure is essential for reliable long-term operation.

Major hot runner brands such as Mold-Masters, Husky, YUDO, HASCO, and DME mainly use three mounting types: screw-in, bayonet, and surface-press types. Each design is optimized for different positions including nozzles, manifolds, and auxiliary heating zones. These structures ensure firm contact between thermocouple tip and heated metal surface.

Screw-in mounting provides the highest stability. The thermocouple is fixed with threads, preventing looseness under long-term vibration. It is widely used in nozzle tips and manifold zones where accuracy is critical. Bayonet mounting allows fast installation and replacement, suitable for mass production molds. Surface-press mounting uses clamps or screws to fix the probe on flat areas, common in large manifold surfaces.

Hot runner technology requires that thermocouples respond quickly without structural risk. Mounting depth, position, and compression force are carefully designed. Sensors are usually placed close to melt channels to reflect real temperature. Incorrect positioning leads to false readings and system imbalance.

Thermocouple products match different mounting structures with dedicated connectors, cables, and sheath materials. Type K and Type J mineral-insulated sensors are most common. High-temperature cables and durable sheaths extend service life in harsh environments.

Applications cover all injection molding industries. Automotive and medical molds prefer screw-in mounting for maximum stability. Packaging and consumer goods often use bayonet types for convenient maintenance.

Common problems include loose mounting, improper depth, bent probes, and cable pinching. These issues cause temperature drift, unstable signals, and even sensor breakage. Standardized installation procedures reduce such risks.

In summary, proper thermocouple mounting ensures accurate, fast, and stable temperature detection. Screw-in, bayonet, and surface-press designs each have unique advantages. Understanding mounting methods helps mold makers select suitable products and improve hot runner reliability.333
