Unified color standardization of hot runner thermocouple positive and negative wires is not only a basic industrial specification, but also a key guarantee for mold assembly, on-site wiring, later maintenance and long-term use safety of hot runner molds. Many on-site wiring faults, reversed polarity, temperature control disorder and even heater burnout accidents are all caused by irregular wire color matching and random wiring without distinguishing positive and negative poles. Standardizing thermocouple wire color can eliminate human operation errors from the source, improve maintenance efficiency, and avoid quality and safety risks caused by wrong wiring.
Different types of thermocouples such as K-type and N-type have international unified color identification standards for positive and negative wires. The alloy material and polarity correspond to fixed colors one by one, which is convenient for electricians and maintenance personnel to quickly distinguish without relying on memory or random trial wiring. In the process of new mold wiring and hot runner assembly, strictly following the color standard can ensure that the polarity of each heating zone is connected correctly at one time, avoiding the hidden trouble of reversed polarity. Once the positive and negative poles are connected in reverse, the thermocouple temperature sensing logic is completely reversed, the controller will continuously heat up when it should cool down, and keep cooling down when it needs to heat up, resulting in serious overheating of the hot runner, a large area of carbonized materials, and even burnout of the heating ring in serious cases.
In the later mold maintenance, mold transfer and personnel handover process, standardized wire colors do not need to re-measure and distinguish the line sequence one by one, which greatly saves fault troubleshooting time and mold disassembly and debugging cycle. For large factories with hundreds of hot runner molds and multiple maintenance personnel, unified color standards realize universal operation specifications, new employees can quickly get started, and will not make low-level mistakes due to different personal wiring habits. If different brands of thermocouples use mixed and disorderly wire colors, each maintenance requires repeated multimeter measurement and confirmation, which reduces work efficiency and easily leaves hidden dangers of virtual connection and wrong connection.
In terms of long-term safety, standardized color wiring is neat and layered, easy to inspect aging wires, damaged insulation and loose terminals in daily patrol. Chaotic color mixing wiring leads to messy wiring harness layout, which is easy to be squeezed by mold plates and rubbed by sharp steel edges, accelerating insulation damage and increasing the risk of short circuit and electric leakage. At the same time, standardized color matching is conducive to the establishment of factory operation SOP, forming a unified production and maintenance standard, realizing standardized management of all hot runner molds, reducing the error rate of manual operation, and ensuring the long-term wiring safety and temperature control stability of the hot runner system.
