Whether J507 welding electrode needs to be dried again before use depends on its storage condition and exposure time. If the electrode has been damp or exposed to a high humidity environment for more than 4 hours, it must be dried again.

2. Conditions for Direct Use Without Drying: The welding rods should always be stored in an insulated box or container at 100–150℃, and used only as needed. Welding operations should be completed within 4 hours of removal from the insulated equipment. The packaging should be intact and unopened, and the warehouse environment should be dry (humidity ≤60%).

3. Re-drying Procedure:

Temperature: 350–400℃ (350℃ recommended);

Time: 1 hour (can be extended to 1.5–2 hours to ensure deep dehydrogenation);

Temperature Control: Slowly increase and decrease temperatures to prevent the coating from cracking;

Number of Re-drying: No more than 3 times. Over-drying will cause the coating to deteriorate and become ineffective.

Safety Warning: Welding with damp J507 welding rods will increase the hydrogen content of the weld, easily causing delayed cracking, and in severe cases, can lead to structural component fracture.
