How to Calibrate a Husky Thermocouple Yourself

Preparation Before Calibration: Gather a handheld thermocouple calibrator, a standard K-type thermocouple that has undergone metrological testing, and a high-precision digital thermometer. Ensure that all standard equipment is within its metrological validity period. Pre-heat the Husky temperature controller and hot runner system for 30 minutes. Ensure that the thermocouple connections are secure and not slack.

On-site Calibration Procedure: Secure the hot junctions of the standard thermocouple and the Husky thermocouple to be calibrated, then insert them both into the hot runner's sensing orifice. Ensure that both sensor junctions are entirely in contact with the runner wall and share the same temperature field.

Choose 2-3 common manufacturing temperature points for the hot runner. Gradually increase the temperature from low to high while keeping a consistent temperature at each stage for 20 minutes. The temperature change should be ≤0.2℃/min.

Use the handheld thermocouple calibrator to read the standard thermocouple's measured temperature value. Record the shown temperature value on the Husky temperature controller and compute the indicator inaccuracy for each temperature point.

To construct a full-temperature-range linear compensation curve, navigate to the Husky temperature controller's "Advanced Calibration" menu and enter error correction values for each temperature point consecutively. Set the cold junction compensation parameter to the current detected ambient temperature at the terminal block.

Use the temperature controller's PID self-tuning feature to adjust the system to the new temperature measurement characteristics and optimise the temperature control curve.

Verification after self-calibration: Heat to the standard manufacturing temperature and hold for 1 hour. Using a conventional thermocouple, compare numerous temperature locations at random to ensure that the full-temperature-range measurement variance is less than ±1.The temperature fluctuation is less than ±1℃, with no drift or jump. Self-calibration has completed.
