Vibration-induced failure is one of the most common causes of unstable temperature measurement and premature sensor damage in industrial equipment such as fans, pumps, compressors, pipelines and rotating machinery. Platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) feature delicate internal sensing elements and wiring structures, making them highly vulnerable to continuous mechanical vibration, which may lead to loose connections, broken internal leads, measurement drift and complete functional failure. As a professional thermal measurement expert, this article systematically introduces targeted anti-vibration installation measures, structural reinforcement methods and long-term maintenance specifications to ensure reliable operation of platinum RTDs in high-vibration working conditions. The primary step for anti-vibration installation is selecting anti-vibration type platinum RTDs with reinforced internal structure. These specialized sensors adopt shock-resistant packaging for the sensing chip, thickened internal leads and fixed clamping structures to prevent micro-motion and fracture inside the element under high-frequency vibration. For the protection tube, thick-wall stainless steel material is strongly recommended, which enhances overall rigidity and resists bending, deformation or resonance caused by equipment vibration, avoiding mechanical damage to the internal sensing core. Mechanical installation reinforcement is the core link to isolate vibration transmission. A rigid, thickened mounting bracket must be used to fix the sensor firmly, avoiding cantilever structure that amplifies vibration amplitude. High-elasticity, high-temperature resistant shock-absorbing gaskets should be installed between the sensor flange/thread connector and the equipment base, which effectively isolate high-frequency vibration from the main equipment and reduce the vibration level transmitted to the sensing element. All fasteners must be locked with spring washers or thread locking adhesive to prevent gradual loosening under long-term alternating vibration. Cable and lead protection is equally critical in anti-vibration design. The sensor cable should be fixed with multi-point cable clamps along the equipment shell to eliminate free swinging and slapping, which prevents repeated bending fatigue and breakage at the cable lead-out position. The cable length should be properly reserved without excessive slack, and sharp bending at the transition part must be avoided. For severe vibration scenarios, armored cables are preferred to enhance mechanical strength and resist wear and tensile stress. Long-term stable operation requires regular inspection and maintenance. In continuous vibration environments such as compressors and large fans, daily or periodic inspection of fastener tightness, shock-absorbing gasket integrity and cable fixation status is necessary. Early detection of loose connectors, cracked protection tubes or damaged cables can avoid sudden measurement failure and equipment shutdown caused by vibration fatigue. In conclusion, anti-vibration installation of platinum RTDs requires a comprehensive solution integrating sensor selection, structural reinforcement, vibration isolation and cable protection. By adopting anti-vibration sensors, thick-wall protection tubes, rigid brackets, shock-absorbing gaskets and reliable cable fixing measures, the risks of poor contact, lead breakage and measurement drift can be greatly reduced. Strict implementation of anti-vibration installation technology and regular maintenance are essential guarantees for accurate, stable and long-life temperature measurement of platinum RTDs in high-vibration industrial applications.
