How to Quickly Repair Damaged PTFE Wires

Based on our previous discussion of the characteristics of PTFE wires in hot runner scenarios, the risks of direct welding, and compliant repair solutions, the cold-pressing method combined with double-layer fluoroplastic heat shrink tubing insulation is the fastest and most reliable repair method suitable for hot runner conditions. The entire process can be completed in 10-15 minutes, with the following steps:

 

Quick Pre-treatment: After power is off, remove the damaged section of insulation at the break point and clean the oxide layer from the wire core surface.

 

Quick Connection: Use a compatible cold-pressing terminal to press the two wire core sections together. No welding is required to avoid high-temperature damage to the surrounding PTFE insulation layer.

 

Quick Insulation Protection: Apply two layers of fluoroplastic heat shrink tubing with a temperature resistance of ≥260℃. Quickly heat and shrink the tubing with a heat gun to completely cover the joint.

 

Quick Verification: Retest the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter. If it is ≥100MΩ, and there are no abnormalities, the wire can be quickly restored to use.

 

This method completely avoids the risk of thermal damage from direct welding, is suitable for high-temperature operating conditions in hot runners, and can quickly resolve breakpoint faults. It is only a temporary emergency solution, and it is still recommended to replace the wires with brand new pure material when the opportunity arises.
