Thus, regular calibration intervals (often every 6 months) are mandatory, and the calibration records must be permanently stored. Fifthly, the response time must be fast to ensure that the controller can react to any rapid temperature fluctuations, especially during multi‑cavity molding where each cavity must match. Grounded junctions are often preferred for speed, but they must be carefully insulated to avoid ground loops. Sixthly, the thermocouple installation must be completely leak‑free; any resin seepage around the probe could contaminate the medical part or the surrounding environment. Sealing features like O‑rings or compression fittings are commonly used. In practice, many medical molders use original‑brand thermocouples from the hot runner manufacturer rather than generic substitutes, to ensure full validation. They also maintain a strict replacement schedule-some replace after every 10,000 cycles or annually, whichever comes first.
